WELCOME
ARRIVAL
Students should not arrive at school before 7:15 a.m. as staff members are not available for supervision before then. Students may be dropped off in front of the building between 7:15 -7:50 a.m. Students who eat breakfast should arrive no later than 7:40.
DISMISSAL
Student dismissal begins at 2:35 p.m. Traffic is routed to the front side of the building both in the morning and afternoon. Car Riders should be picked up no later than 3:00 p.m.. Parents arriving after 3:00 p.m. should pick up students in the office. Please Note:  It is confusing to young children to alternate between daycare, parent pick-up and buses.  Your child is more confident with a dependable routine. Bus riders must ride their assigned buses. Bus changes are not permitted unless an emergency arises. When an emergency exists and a temporary change is needed, a student must bring a note to the office for approval.  SHOULD YOU NEED TO CHANGE THE WAY A CHILD GOES HOME , A WRITTEN NOTE FROM THE CHILD'S PARENT OR GUARDIAN INDICATING THE CHANGE IN HIS/HER TRANSPORTATION HOME IS REQUIRED ON THE MORNING  OF THE CHANGE.  THIS NOTE SHOULD BE BROUGHT TO THE FRONT OFFICE BY THE CHILD TO BE SIGNED BY A SCHOOL OFFICIAL.  When an emergency exists and a temporary change is needed, it will all also be permissible for a parent or guardian to FAX a note to the school office.  Our FAX number is (205) 629-6408.  VERBAL PERMISSION WILL NO LONGER BE GRANTED IN ORDER TO ENDURE THE SAFETY AND SECURITY OF YOUR CHILD.  IN THE ABSENCE OF A NOTE FROM YOU, YOUR CHILD WILL BE PLACED ON HIS/HER USUAL MODE OF TRANSPORTATION.

"The safety of your child is our primary concern."

LATE ARRIVALS
Students who arrive past our 7:55 a.m. starting time are considered tardy.  Parents must accompany their child to the office for a pass to enter class. Parents will be contacted if students are frequently tardy.

EARLY CHECK-OUT OF STUDENTS
We are very concerned about the safety of all of the children at Odenville  Elementary. Parents must sign out their children in order to pick them up early. For security reasons, anyone checking out a student will be required to show a picture I.D. (i.e.: Driver's License) prior to having a child released to exit the building with him/her. Parents should not go to the classroom to pick up children. Students will be called to the office. The teachers are not permitted to release students from the classroom. Your cooperation is appreciated as a safeguard for all the children.

VISITORS
We welcome and encourage parents to visit the school.  For your child's security, ALL parents and visitors are required, by county policy, to sign the Visitor's Register in the front office when entering and leaving the building.  You will be issued a visitor's badge which must be worn and visible at all times during your visit.  All school employees will be instructed to direct any visitors not wearing a visitor's badge to the office. If the visitor does not comply, the staff member will notify the office personnel immediately. As a courtesy, please notify your child's teacher if you would like to schedule a conference or make a classroom visit. Teachers strive to maximize instructional time with students, and are unable to conference with parents without an appointment.
MESSAGES TO TEACHERS
Calls will be received by the school between 7:55 a.m. and 3:15 p.m.  Messages will be taken for teachers to return calls.  Instructional times cannot be interrupted for incoming calls to teachers.
